The Faraway Tree is located on the main street in the small outback town of Charleville, in South West Queensland. The current building at 108 Alfred Street was built in 1914 by Alfred and Bella Louise Fraser and was home to the original Fraser’s Store. This beautiful historic building remained in the Fraser family and was empty for 10 years until we bought it in 2020. Today the shop has been lovingly restored by our family, and the old Fraser’s store is now The Faraway Tree.

Not just a great place to shop – also a friendly space to visit.

The huge amount of space at The Faraway Tree has meant that we are able to provide a space to play and rest. With comfy chairs for sitting, toys and books for children to play with and no breakable glass displays in sight, we hope that people might be able to just pop in to visit every now and again – and if shopping with children, have a chance to relax while browsing! Plenty of local knowledge is on hand – sometimes it is a noisy place with lots of kids, other times it is lovely and peaceful! A main comment from customers is that the shop has a great vibe about it – have an explore around the amazing spaces and see for yourself. The Faraway  Tree is the home of vintage inspired handmade clothing label Sunday’s Belle – all one of a kind items that are made and sold in the shop. Also available is a selection of baby and children’s basics from a few of our favourite brands. There are endless treasures to discover, from classic toys and children’s books to dress-making fabrics, sewing supplies and local crafts. We have a range of dance apparel for little dancers, including leotards, skirts, shorts, and tops, as well as ballet, tap and jazz shoes. There is a lot more in-store than we can ever put online, so we encourage you to pop in and have a browse.
